Vinayaka Chathurthi

It is the birthday of the great Lord. This day instills divine inspiration in 'Satvic' minds and equips one to overcome all obstacles in the pilgrimage of life.

Vinayaka Chathurthi is celebrated on the day of Sukla Paksha Chathurthi falling in the month of 'Chingam' and is observed with a variety of poojas. Every Chathurthi and every Friday is very important to Lord Maha Ganapathy. A darshan of the Lord during these days is expected to issue indescribable blessings to each devotee that reaches the Mana.

Dhanyatman

We are celebrating the Vinayaka Chathurthi of this year with extensive spiritual programmes. Designed with surprising Tantric accuracy and spotless Vedic dimensions, 6 days program spreads from Aug. 24 to 29. Kindly see the programme chart enclosed herewith.

Blessed are we to be part of such a spiritual seat. A Purushartha comes to full circle by attending such religious functions. However I am sure, it goes without mention that it requires huge money, man power and minds and of course His blessings to cap this holy attempt with feathers.

Surya at Surya Kaladi

Surya as Mother - male as we know and female as we worship.

Surya or the Sun God as the initial words of this Mana indicate, has a rare concept of acceptance here. A fascinating ritual is that the sun is worshiped as a female. The sun who is the focal point of all the life system shows the divine presence in the poojas conducted here.

Ganga Pravaham at Surya Kaladi Mana

"Gange cha Yamune chaiva Godavari Saraswathi
Narmade Sindhu Kaveri Jalesmin Sannidhim kuru"

The perennial springs of the seven sacred Rivers and the holy waters of Akasa Ganga are drawn to the divine couch before any pooja is started. Water, the main source of life, has great heights in our Vedic concepts. The 6-days Yagas of Surya Kaladi Mana bow with reverence before this concept.

Well-knit arrangements are made to bring waters from the holy ghats of all the Seven Rivers, Manasa Sarovar, Haridwar, Rishikesh and Badarinath for this glorious function. It is also our fortune that the esteemed Ravalgi of Badarinath has been gracious enough to collect and offer the waters of Badarinath. A special troup headed by Brahma Sree Suryan Subrahmaniyan Bhattathiripad, chief priest of Surya Kaladi Mana, will be going over to all these centers to collect the holy waters. The troup leaves for Delhi on July 27th and return by Aug. 3rd. An enormous crowd of devotees including central ministers and spiritual leaders receives and honours these waters in a special function arranged at Delhi.

These waters will be received at Nedumbasserry Airport in Kochi, on Aug. 3rd evening. A long procession will take the "Kalasams of holy waters" to Kaladi Sringeri Matt, the spiritual bay of Vedantha.

Mantras from the 3 great Vedas will be recited for the next 21 days by the supreme vedic scholars of the Matt. The holy waters still made holier will reach the Yaga Bhumi of the Surya Kaladi Mana through a long procession of Multitudes on Aug. 24th. The epoch-making function then begins.

Maha Ganapathy at Surya Kaladi

The concept of Lord Mahaganapathi here is more powerful than that elsewhere found in the whole of Kerala. It is a powerful blending of Vaishnava, Sakteya and Saivah traditions. Surya Kaladi Mana has a shrine dedicated to Mahaganapathy, the Lord who is red hued with ten hands and has his consort on his lap. Lekshmi lends Her presence with untold prosperity and Parvathi lends power with inexplicable skill.

Indra, Indrani, Varaha Moorthi and Varaha are believed to stand in prayers infront of the glorious Maha Ganapathi here. A strange and obscure mixing of Varaha Beeja and Ganesha Beeja, supplies immaculate powers to the Ganapathi Mantra here.

The Mantra and Poojas associated with the temple are unique and assumes a special significance. It is traditionally believed that the concept of Mahaganapathy worship is the most intense and beneficial. He is the presiding deity of the Molladhara Chakra, the psychic center in the body in which the Kudalini Shakti resides.

Seated in that Ultimate Throne with the Thrisul, Pasam, Gada and similar weapons, the Maha Ganapathi of Surya Kaladi showers countless blessings upon the seeker who goes to him. No wonder, this great Mana is the shelter of peace and prosperity.
